Semolina Upma

Upma is a healthy Breakfast. No matter where you go in India, Upma is a hot favorite breakfast food. It is originally from South India. Made with semolina and lightly spiced to make a tasty dish.


Sooji Upma


Ingredients:

Semolina (Sooji) – 1 cup
Carrot – 1/2 cup chopped
Green peas – 1/2 cup
Onion – 1 medium chopped
Oil – 2 tablespoon
1 cm slice –  chopped ginger
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Urad Dal – 1 tablespoon
Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
Salt as per taste

method:
Semolina (Sooji) Upma

Heat the oil in a pan add urad dal, cumin seeds & mustard seeds and fry for minute.
Add carrot and peas, ginger and onion. Saute for few minutes.
Add semolina, mix well and roast it on low flame with veggies until Semolina get golden brown. Stir continuously.
Add 2 cups of water to it. Add salt. Mix well continuously.
Add lemon juice & cook until sooji absorb all water.
Serve hot with chutney.
